6 Daily Mantras to Develop an Empowered Mindset and Revisit
Confidence is an internal game. It's got much more to do with how you think, feel and act than those external resources (like time and money) we tell ourselves we need to make something happen. That's why we've created the Confidence Mindset Series. This post is a summary of simple-yet-powerful thoughts you can practice daily so you can avoid giving up too early—or worse—never EVEN START.

If you are not confident, you tend to question the legitimacy of your ideas ... telling yourself 'I don't know how' or 'I don't have that' or 'others can do it, but I can't.' Other well meaning people (who are not confident either) tend to echo those questions ... 'you don't have enough experience' or 'how are you going to make money?' When you start out with your idea, you don't have to have the answers to all these questions. You can start by following what your heart and intuition tell you. Only when your questions become real obstacles do you need to focus on them and find the solutions.
It is important that you don't interrupt your positive train of thought with thoughts that question the validity of your ideas. Every time you have questions or a concern, write it down on a separate piece of paper and tell yourself you can get to it later. Then return to your ideas and continue to build your vision.
Our minds are mostly occupied by the things we want to get done... the problems we want to solve and the dreams we hope we will materialise one day. It sounds something like this: 'I have to do that thing and then I should do this thing. And actually, I should have done it years ago so... I better get this done immediately!!! Oh but wait, it's actually too late to do that so I'm just going to give up. So... what's the next thing I should do? This all consuming storyline kills our ability to take positive action and we remain far away from the results we long for. Rather think about the things you want to do as topics you want to study. Then commit to reading books, researching the internet and listening to interviews until you feel inspired to take action.
So, here's our invitation to you... why not choose a subject you want to focus on and use your mind like you would a camera, zooming in and out on the details and full picture. Start general and explore and then consciously start to focus on one thing at a time. And most of all - have fun!
When we think about all the details we tend to focus on the ones we believe will be difficult. Is it any wonder that we struggle to take action? Guide yourself through small successes by focusing on one easy step at a time. And learn how you can further develop a mindset that empowers in Janie's article 'Confidence from the Inside Out'.
If you would like to know how you can go about creating a vision for your life and change it into manageable goals? Enliven's IDENTIFICATION GUIDE (the first in our guided series) can help. It also includes a workbook and coaching session with Janie Loubser.
