Beautiful spaces have always inspired us to escape the ordinary. They slow us down, make us savour the details we would otherwise miss and we leave feeling re-energised in some way. This directory is designed to showcase some of our favourite local finds - whether you just want to hangout with friends, work remotely or even book your next guidance session with Janie here - this is an invitation to take some time out and enjoy them yourself. At the moment we have only featured Cape Town locations but we will be expanding these to our favourite spots all over the world in the very near future. We'd love to hear what your favourites are, pop us a mail here.
GROUND ART CAFFE
Located in the hip, design-inclined De Waterkant area, Ground Art Caffe has achieved cult status amongst coffee addicts, passing yogi's and floating freelancers alike. Fitted with beautiful pieces (some handmade by the owners), this space updates every month by giving local up-and-coming artists a rare chance to have a solo exhibition on their pristine gallery walls. Don't be fooled by the young twenty-somethings that have made this intimate corner shop a raging success, Glen and Dustin's desire to create a space that harnessed their love of coffee, food and people manifests every single day in the way the team insist upon a cool and chilled experience, with hands down the best coffee in town.
Every inch of The Stack was designed to make its visitors do multiple double takes, all the while reaching for their phones and the Instagram app. Bold colours, patterns and textures clash in the best way to create beautifully intimate and cosy corners at every turn. Whether you want to relax in the gardens or enjoy a sophisticated drink in the bar, it's the ideal space to indulge your imagination and make day-to-day routines seemingly evaporate. They also offer The Cuddle Room which is a great breakaway office alternative that could be used for small group coaching sessions.
There's something about this place that is more than just another obvious sundowner spot in Camps Bay. Midweek, the breezy upstairs section suspends gorgeous white washed floors, deconstructed walls and beautiful decor in time while shuttered windows open up onto umbrella dotted beachfront views. Exceptional service and a great backing playlist make this the perfect spot to get off the grid and work (or sip cocktails) for a while.
THE STRANGER'S CLUB
You will find this dreamy haven tucked away off the bustling stretch of Main Road, Green Point. Forming an extension of Out of this World, a store trading authentic African collectables, any time spent at The Stranger's Club truly feels like that... out of this world! Taking inspiration from one of William La Varre's novels, Southward Ho! this space accurately captures the spirit of explorers, collectors and traders passing through in the attention to detail and authentic decor. "They say that a man can sit in the Stranger's Club of La Paz, twelve thousand feet above sea-level, and meet men from every sea" - this camaraderie rings true for everyone who makes this gem their regular. Great food, great people and best chai latte in town.
If you are looking for a bit more tranquility, we highly recommend making a day trip out to Bosjes Farm, a mere 80 minute drive and 110km outside of Cape Town in the Breede Valley. The passing scenery en route becomes a form of calming meditation and the moment you are through the Hugenot Tunnel it feels as if every care in the world is left behind. The farm's striking chapel architecture and landscaped gardens make the journey all the more worthwhile with a children's play area and two restaurants - Bosjes Kombuis and the Tea Garden - are more than enough to keep a whole entourage happy! Take advantage of the gorgeous guesthouse on site for the perfect mid-week escape that will leave you feeling relaxed, with a renewed sense of focus and energy in no time.
